PullUSA: How did you get involved in shooting sports? Sierra McDonald: I started in a 4-H shooting club in Fulton County where I completed the Winchester NRA shot- gun qualification in less than a year. Then I went to the Franklin County Trap League where I still shoot yearly. And now our school started to par- ticipate in the USA High School Clay Target League. PullUSA: What do you like most about the League and being a part of your team? McDonald: Being able to do this sport that I love with my friends from school. PullUSA: What other activities have you taken part in outside of the League? McDonald: I also run track and cross-country. Love to hunt. THE LEAD ON T HE L INE What began in 4-H has blossomed into a full-blown love of hunting and shooting sports for Sierra McDonald. The rising southern Pennsylvania star was the Spring 2017 Overall High Season Average Female as a member of the of the Fulton County Community Christian School clay target team. McDonald also secured 2nd-place Varsity Female honors at the Pennsylvania State High School Clay Target League State Tournament at Clairton Sportman's Club last June. After last year, the school closed—but the team will march on under a new banner at Southern Fulton High School in Warfordsburg. We caught up with McDonald to learn more about her passion for the League. 14 PULLUSA MAGAZINE SPRING 2018 PullUSA: What's the most important advice you can give to younger athletes? McDonald: Don't give up if your scores aren't the best. Just keep on trying and practicing. It pays off! PullUSA: What would you say to a classmate who was on the fence about giving the League a try? McDonald: It's a lot of fun. It doesn't matter if you are good at it or not, as long as you enjoy it and have fun with friends. Each issue of PullUSA features a different high school clay target athlete exhibiting exceptional character and passion for the sport and their communities. ✪ "It doesn't matter if you are good at it or not, as long as you enjoy it and have f un with friends."
